I was given a Roland GAIA and I recorded loads of it onto a Boss RC-505 Loopstation. Minimal processing. Quickest produced album I've made so far. It seems almost like the less time I spend fussing with tweaking and mixing, the happier I am with the final product. This was the very last project I produced using Logic Pro 9 on an iMac computer.
After this album, the iMac died and I decided that I was only going to produce music with hardware. I couldn't stand the thought of spending a bunch of money on a new computer, and new software to bring me back to the same level of production. Instead I went down the rabbit hole of investing into analog synths, guitar effects pedals, and eventually eurorack.
